Seldom does one person stay in the same home for the duration of a lifetime. That being said, people tend to move from home to home throughout the years. The moving process, though exciting, can be somewhat stressful at times. Gathering and packaging your items properly can be quite difficult if you’re going into the process blind.

Below are 5 tips to help you through the moving process:

Out with the old – Before beginning your move, go through all of your old items. Any items you don’t utilize anymore can be donated or sold. A moving sale is a great idea to get some cash for your unused items! A move is a new start, and ensuring you’re not dragging behind any unneeded luggage is a great way to start fresh.

Package by room – If you are planning on using a similar layout in your new residence, pack your items by room. Be sure to label the boxes.

Within rooms, group fragile items - Package your fragile items using sturdy but cushioning packaging. Utilizing old news papers and balls of plastics bags will help ensure your items stay intact. Additionally, mark all breakable boxes FRAGILE.

Disassemble furniture – Any furniture you have that can come apart should. For larger items, such as a couch, ensure you use furniture bags to eliminate the chance of any dust or dirt buildup during the move. Additionally, mattress bags can be used for bedding to help protect your mattresses as well as box spring.

Have a crew - Whether a group of close friends, family, or moving professionals; take all the help you can get. The moving process can be stressful, but with the right team will be quick and painless. (maybe even fun!)

We hope these tips help you along in the moving process! Good luck!

Grocery bag buildup in the home can be a problem for some, and can lead to unnecessary waste. One thing we love to do is provide readers with different creative ideas on how they can reuse their plastic bags. With the right attitude and a creative mindset, you can recycle your very own plastic into beautiful items!

Today we’d like to teach you how to make flowers out of excess plastic bags from the grocery store.

Check out the video below:

Items you`ll need:

Plastic Bags

Scissors

A Straw

Paper Twist or Wire

Steps:

Cut 2 stripes from the plastic bag. width = 4 inches each

Cut both sides of each stripe

Cut your straw to 4 inches

Fold the straw down the middle

Cut both ends of the straw into thin strips leaving about 1/3 inch in the middle & burn the tip of each straw end

Line up the edges of all four sheets and lay them flat on the a surface, then fold it about 3/4inch and keep folding back and forth in accordion style. Continue until the entire sheet is folded.

Keep the straw stamen on the top of foldings and tie it with a tag around the middle. (Make sure that the tag and stamen are in the center)

Open the foldings to form a circle, then gently pull the top layer in an upward motion. This will begin to take the form of a flower. Repeat this step for all layers.

Trim as you like.

Voila!

Waste buildup is a large problem here in the United States as well as worldwide. Sadly, a lot of this litter and garbage comes from discarded items which are dealt with improperly and find their final place as a hazard to the ecosystem.

While through the years plastic bags have gotten a bad reputation, it is only due to the misuse and lack of proper treatment of these items.

As a provider of polyethylene packaging, we have made the decision to set a positive example and remain as environmentally conscious and friendly as possible through our production and actions. How so? Let’s take a look.

In order to reduce any damage that could be don’t to the environment as per our company actions we encourage recycling and aim to reduce waste. As far as production of our food bags, biodegradable bags, and other packaging – we use in part recycled materials.

“X-L Plastics runs three recycling machines in our facilities that convert plastic scrap into resins.”

We have three recycling machines in house that convert plastic scraps into resins. This eliminates waste and instead transforms it into product be circulated as is or to be manufactured further.

Many people find themselves with an abundance of grocery bags in the home. Now, for some, these plastic bags do nothing more than eat up space. For the creative and resourceful individual, these bags become a plethora of other useful items.

Let’s take a look at some uses below:

1.Dog messes – Cleaning up after your dog can be a pain, but the process becomes a great deal easier when you have the right materials. If you frequently take you dog for walks around the neighborhood, you know how much of a pain it can be if it goes to the bathroom on the sidewalk. Keeping a grocery bag in your pocket will eliminate this problem all together

2. Litter boxes - Plastic bags make awesome litter box liners! Using a liner makes the cleaning process a great deal easier when it comes time to change what’s in there.

3. Waterproof your shoes – This is a classic use. After putting on your socks but before putting on your shoes, slide a plastic bag onto the foot. This will help keep you dry in wintery conditions.

These are just a few used for plastic bags!

The grocery bag full of grocery bags. A staple to every American household. Though these bags can be very useful, if you don’t know how to use them properly they can be nothing more than a burden. The last thing you want is a cabinet overflowing with plastic bags.

The last time we touched on this topic we came up with three awesome uses for plastic bags:

Use plastic bags as garbage bags

Stuff pillows for your pets with plastic bags

Use them to move

Today we want to expand on this subject and give you three more new and useful ideas for your plastic bags. Check them out below:

1.Use them to seal your home: Whether you’ve recently had a home remodeling project or you’re living in an old farmhouse, chances are you are going to have drafts coming through some parts of your home. Furthermore, you may have holes in your basement walls, ceilings, around pipes, or other unused areas of your space. Fill these gaps with plastic bags to prevent unnecessary air flow and to stop critters from getting inside.

2. Use them as gloves: No, not for the cold weather, but for personal tasks. Grocery bags make the perfect barrier when using items such as clothing dye and hair dye. Rather than buying a box of gloves, recycle your bags and get the most bang for your buck!

3. Use them as a lid reinforcement or replacement: Have a broken seal? Lose the top to a bottle? That’s ok. Screwing on a lid over a plastic bag can provide a stronger seal. If you have lost your lid, simply replace it with a plastic bag and a rubber band!

We hope these tips were helpful. In need of plastic bags, food bags, or biodegradable bags for your company? visit us online at http://x-lplastics.com and get in touch!

Plastic bags are a part of most people’s lives. Whether you are grocery shopping, clothing shopping, or even ordering items online, you will end up with some sort of plastic bag accumulation within your home. Now, some may view this as a negative occurrence, but with the right attitude and a little thought, you can put those bags to good use.

plastic bags as pillow stuffing

Use plastic bags as garbage bags: Chances are your office, bathroom, and perhaps your bedroom all have garbage cans. These cans are a great deal smaller than those found in your average kitchen. Save money on buying small trash bags and save your grocery bags instead. These will make great small trashcan bags!

Give your pets the gift of luxury. Plastic bags can be used in the realm of household pets in a few ways. They can make a killer pet bed. Stuff a pillow case with plastic bags; or, if you’re feeling crafty- make your own pet bed using some old fabric and some plastic bags. This will keep your cat or dog comfy and cozy in the home! (p.s. Plastic bags and food bags make perfect litter box liners, and pooper scoopers as well!)

Moving? Plastic bags can serve as a gigantic help throughout the process. Use plastic bags to help pack your fragile items. You can wrap breakable glasses and tableware in plastic bags before stacking them inside a box. For larger fragile items, such as lamps and antiques, place the item in the box then stuff the sides with plastic bags until tight. This will save you money on packaging materials and provide you with a safe method of transporting your valuables!

As you may know from visiting our site, X-L Plastics offers a wide selection of bio hazard bags. These bags are meant for packaging hazardous waste materials that may pose a risk to the environment, people, or animals. When dealing with hazardous waste, much more than simply finding a trash receptacle comes into play. The EPA, or Environmental Protection Agency, has many regulations in place when it comes to the disposal of hazardous waste.

Failing to stay within the EPA’s guidelines can result in a range of fines, depending on how serious your violation is. In New York State, violations and broken down into three classes.

Class I violations include contamination of the ground or surface water as a result of improper disposal.

Class II violations require immediate action by the business of the individual in question as to alleviate the occurrences. This includes constant litter, odors, or violating a permit.

Class III violations are bit less serious and deal more so with housekeeping issues that revolve around issues with paperwork filing and record keeping, rather than actual harms done to the environment.

When dealing with plastic bags, the disposal of them can pose a problem for some. Recycling simple plastics such as grocery bags can be a hassle, and most of the time people end up throwing them in the trash. At X-L Plastics, we have three recycling machines which convert used plastic into resin which we then sell and use to make new products, thus continuing the lifespan and use of the product.

For the general public, finding alternative methods for their plastic bags is a great route to take. Today we wanted to share with you how to make a plastic bag jump rope!

Materials Needed

Plastic Bags

Scissors

Duct Tape

Making a plastic bag jump rope is easier than one may think. Just follow these simple steps

Step 1: Take your plastic bags, cut them open, and cut off the handles. This will leave you with a large rectangle.

Step 2: Cut your rectangles into strips. Tie these strips together until they are a nice jumprope length.

Step 3: Take six strips and attach one end of them with duct tape.

Step 4: Braid the strips (grouped in 2’s)

Step 5: Close both ends and make sturdy handles using your duct tape. (Use tape with a cool pattern to spice things up.)

This is one of many uses for your excess grocery bags. Stay tuned for more fun ideas!
